Tapping into the 1930’s

Bathroom Overhauls Home Renovations Owner Builders Spotswood

Welcome to a Joncol project like no other! This art deco bathroom was a rare honor to complete with every element of the room meticulously planned and executed to perfection. The styling ties in perfectly with the 1930’s home and the results are remarkable!

The Owner spent countless hours sourcing and restoring original fixtures and fittings such as the pedestal basin, cast iron bath, tapware and tile inserts. The boarder tiles were matched to the original design and custom made for the renovation. Their passion for restoration and staying true to the era of the home was awe-inspiring.

Us tradies loved stepping back in time too with a few rarely used techniques reemployed to deliver the striking end result. The original inbuilt plaster dado feature was restored in places and the tiling design was carefully mapped to ensure all feature tiles set perfectly on the walls. The wall light was refit with modern wiring and inset power points on mounting blocks were used.

Modern luxuries were not forgotten with a very custom stone topped vanity and matching shaving cabinet featuring a three stepped ziggurat design. Under the vanity there’s a sensor light for midnight bathroom trips and a hidden powerpoint in the cabinet to hide charging cords. The shower walls are lined with custom painted glass panels for easy cleaning and a modern toilet and bidet finish the room.
